Start  Fisch and chips
I am not going to talk about cooking receipts
regarding fish with chips. I hope the title of this chapter is clear
for everybody. Every player, even the new one knows what is going on,
when I mention chips and fish. As I have written before there is a very
simple way to win in poker: find a player weaker than you and take from
him all his chips. Although the idea behind seems to be very simple,
its implementation is not. In the previous articles, I gave you some
advices regarding exposing of weak players.
However, there is one
characteristic of a weak player that I emphasize especially. It is lack
of consequent in his actions. The consequence makes from a fish a real
shark. For this reason players who are consequent in their acting, get
much higher chances to win a pool, than those who are not. Besides
there are further factors that influence a probability of winning the
pool. Some of the players, no matter how hard they try, will never
posses some of the attributes that make from average player a winner.
However, coming back to consequent acting….
A calculating, cold, and
ruthless person has much bigger chances to win than a person of other
type does. Therefore, if you play poker to earn some money, you should
be a very cold person. It really helps. I will give you one example of
that what I have just said, so that you do not have to believe only in
empty words. Once I played against a person who was very aggressive. At
the end, he won the whole pool. Than he confessed that he has never had
so weak combinations, but, luckily, everybody believed that he has good
cards.
During the first two rounds, I am trying to play
calmly and observe my opponents. I am also trying to be consequent in
my acting, not only from the perspective of a single round, but also
from the perspective of the whole tournament. The point is not to play
all the time in the same way, but to follow some certain strategy. The
change in your strategy may cost you a lot. A huge mistake is to enter
every bid only for calling. Playing this way you deprive yourself of
matching a good card or eventually raising. Once I had an opportunity
to observe one person playing like this.
After each changing, he has
been frantic with his luck. However, it was the early state in the
game, so others allowed him to show his stupidity. Everything changed
after he got three aces from the dealer. I new that the person is
naive so I raise a middle blind, what he, of course, believed in. He
changed two cards. I have changed only one pretending that I have
already had two pairs. I was very calm and patience and I decided to
wait what new the other player is going to do. Moreover, he did exactly
what I have expected he will do. He rose, by very low pool. In this
way, he showed the lack of experience while playing poker.
For me it
meant the same, as he would show me his own cards. He wanted to show me
how good he is, but he showed only how foolish you could be when you
want to win. There is never enough to win for somebody who cannot play
well. A real player always knows when to fold or when to pass. In the
end, the guy had to give me all his chips. He went broke.
There
are hundreds examples of lack of consequence in acting like this
mentioned above. For this reason, it is important to learn from
experience and mistakes of the other players. A real test for you can
be the „on the bubble” position. You always think that if you achieved
so much it makes not sense to quit now. Nevertheless, you are wrong.
However, every moment can be good to pass and take what you have
already earned.
Remember also that changing strategy during a game
make be the last thing you do in the round. If you want to play with
the best people, you should have good cards, or at least good strategy.
Consequence acting is the second thing, which makes you a millionaire.
Do not forget these both things!
