Poker, especially 5cd makes a lot people think of a luck. You have always 50 % chances of getting a good card and 50 % of getting a bad card. In 5cd, our opponents do not have any information about you cards, as it is a case in flop poker. Therefore, they can only guess what cards you have or they can try to figure out what you have by observing you.
Choosing the strategy at the beginning of the game requires from you good knowledge of poker rules. A good player is characterised by consequence of his acts. If you decide to play aggressively, you have to follow that strategy even if after changing your cards you do not see any way to win. Of course, you have to know when to fold, however it depends more on your personal characteristic and your attitude to risk. I can remember a game in which after quite taught bid a player has changed two cards.
He should have raised, but he has only waited. It means that the player has only one pair, he did unsuccessfully bluffing and he does not have anything else to offer. The basic rule, which is of great importance for matching poker, is the continuation of rising, which can be described simply as a consequence.
What show statistics in this case? By changing three cards, you have a probability to match to the three of approximately 12 %. It does not give you any guarantee of winning the pool. Changing two cards, even by having a pair lower you are your chances for getting three to 8 %. From experience, I know that usually after „continuation beat” most of the players give up, and you get all their chips.
The additional advantage from leaving to your own three cards is the fact, that you will decrease at the same time the possibility that your partner will get a card you need. It is important, because usually the third card is a high one. In addition, do not forget another important rule! This time I want to warn you from changing one card, when you have a three. Why not to do that?
By doing that you simulate, that you have a weak combination to encourage other to enter the game. However, if your opponents figure out, that you are faking it may cost you many chips. Do not ignore this possibility! Try to make your opponents think what you want them to think. The consequent acting is a basic- do not forget that.
